A Growing Vision
North Carolina’s international city, High Point, is now home to Sherri and me. Within a mile of our condo, there are multiple churches and restaurants - Chinese, Hispanic, Vietnamese, Mexican, and Japanese, to name a few.
Those of you who are regular subscribers and readers may recall a post a couple of weeks ago in which I asked you to pray for a couple of things.
First, I asked you to pray for our church, that God would lead internationals to Embrace. It is in my heart to serve a multi-cultural church right here in the southern United States. This is no easy task. It is only natural that people groups tend to stick together; language and culture being primary factors. In the building we share, there is a Hispanic church, two Black American churches, a Haitian church, and Embrace.
But God is leading Embrace Church to - pardon the pun - embrace a multi-cultural vision. Like I told you, we’re small, but we are already seeing answers to your prayers for multi-cultural peoples to be drawn to our congregation.
The second prayer request I shared with you involved an alcoholic man in need of deliverance. He has been in and out of rehab several times. It’s not uncommon when we pray for things like this for circumstances to get worse before they get better. Satan increases his hold on those things that continue to hold people in bondage. We have entered into a time like that. But by faith, I believe our enemy knows his time is short. He is aware of God’s Spirit at work. Please persist in prayer. Some of you practice fasting regularly. Please set aside a fast for this urgent request.
As an aside, something else good is happening. Something I haven’t mentioned. Our house in Florida is now under contract. What is so exciting and amusing about this is that I was contacted by a former student from Pakistan who asked if Church on the Edge could help with some ministry needs. I asked her to pray for our house to sell so that we could help her. Within a few days, we received three offers in a twenty-four-hour time frame! Even though the closing isn’t until the end of September, we are going to wire her the money, knowing that come what may, God’s timing is always perfect.
I know so many of you personally. And I know you are praying people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your faithfulness in praying for Embrace Church. May the words of Ephesians 3:20-21 fill you with joy and hope today -
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
