It’s a bright, sunny morning in Pensacola, Florida. I’m headed to church with Sherri for the first time in several weeks. Climbing the French Alps, exploring the museums and canals in Amsterdam, and riding pedal-propelled rail cars in the Adirondack Mountains are just a few of the adventures I’ve experienced in recent weeks. Next week, we are headed to Alabama to visit some good friends, and then it’s off to South Georgia for another weekend getaway.
These are a few of the reasons my daily posts haven’t been so regular!
During my thirty-six years as a pastor, Sherri worked, as she does now, as a nurse. Her calling to serve others as a medical professional is just as strong as my calling to share the Good News of God’s Kingdom and encourage fellow followers of Jesus on their journey.
But . . .
During those thirty-six years, we tended to work seven days a week. I don’t mean to say we never took a day off. We did. The problem was we seldom took our days off together. Sherri worked Monday through Friday and weekends were my busiest times of the week.
During our years in Seoul, Sherri rarely took vacation time, saving all her days for trips back home with our children.
Things are different now, and we are enjoying time together with family and friends.
Anyway, other than a trip to Los Angeles in early December to visit an old Sri Lankan friend from my days at Florida State working on my MBA, we should be settling back down. I think. We’ll see.
I want to thank each of you for taking time to read these posts. I hope they both encourage and challenge you in your pursuit of Christlikeness.
Here’s a couple of Bible verses on my heart today, as I write this update —
“I want us to encourage each other in the faith we share.” (Romans 1:12, NIRV)
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” (Hebrews 10:24, ESV)
In Christ,
Dan
