This weekend Sherri and I travel to High Point, North Carolina to look at apartments. One of the advantages of living in an apartment community is the opportunity to meet people and, hopefully, start a worship service and Bible study. But it’s also important to us to find a place that is quiet and allows us to settle quickly as we begin our ministry in the Triad area of North Carolina. I’d like to ask you to pray for us.
We will also be meeting with our leaders at Embrace Church. Sherry Edwards is our Spiritual Formation Director. She and her husband, Kevin, are hosting the meeting at their home and providing hamburgers and hot dogs. I don’t begin serving officially until July, but it’s time to start planning for Fall and the days to come. We need a clear vision for our church and the ministry to which God is calling us. And, once again, I’d like to ask you to pray for us.
This weekend is Mother’s Day, and I’ll be preaching a message entitled “Mama’s Boy.” In the second chapter of his gospel, John tells the story of Jesus’s first miracle when he turned the water into wine. It’s a miracle that points to the purpose of our Lord and His kingdom - turning mourning to laughter and tears to joy. And someday, we will all rejoice together at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb in a new heaven and earth. I’ve only preached one time since December 1, 2019, and I’m a little nervous. Then again, I’m always a little nervous before preaching. I’d like to ask you to pray for me.
After returning from High Point, I’ll be preaching at our church in Pensacola. What a “coincidence” it was when my pastor asked me to preach just days after God placed a word on my heart to share with the people of this precious Methodist church we’ve been attending near our home. Please pray for me.
Prayer is our lifeline to God. It is access to God’s throne room of grace. Martin Luther said he had so much to do each day that it simply could not be done if he did not spend the first two hours of his day in prayer. I was blessed some time ago to hear Beth Moore share that she prays on her knees daily, asking for God’s strength and leadership in her life.
Jesus taught that his people should always pray and not lose heart. (Luke 18:1)
In Christ,
Dan
