Something to Think About
In him, we have obtained an inheritance. (Ephesians 1:11)
Yesterday we learned that we are God’s inheritance. He longs for the day we are fully his. We will no longer know in part but in full. No longer see dimly as through a mirror, but face to face. What a day that will be. Complete intimacy with our God, who loves each of us more than we can imagine.
But the truth is God is not the only one waiting and longing for his inheritance. We also have an inheritance waiting for us. That’s the subject of our Lent meditation for today.
There are so many places in Scripture that speak of our promised inheritance. The Bible promises that our inheritance can never perish, spoil, or fade. It is safeguarded in heaven by God. (I Peter 1:4) Yet the question remains - What exactly is our inheritance? Is it streets of gold, pearly gates, and mansions? Maybe, but all those things pale in comparison to what awaits you and me in heaven.
What do you think our inheritance is? I want you to reflect on that question for today’s meditation. Tomorrow we will see what the Scripture teaches about it.
In Christ,
Dan
