Wisdom and Relationships
My commitment to Jesus is stronger than it has ever been. I’m no less zealous than I was in my younger days as a follower of Christ. But there’s a difference. How would I describe that difference? I think I would say that my zeal is now guided by a greater wisdom that comes from a closer, more intimate relationship with my Lord. How does that wisdom play out in my life and ministry?
Relationships. I’m more open-armed and accepting of those Christians who see things differently than myself. I’ve also learned to respect the views and attitudes of non-believers. Like Jesus, I find myself becoming a friend of sinners. And what a difference this is making in my witness!
When we listen, really listen to others, they are much more willing to enter into genuine relationships with us. And make no mistake about it; it is these genuine relationships that reflect the grace and goodness of God found in Jesus.
Think about something with me. It’s possible to be right and be wrong and to be wrong and be right. We may dot every doctrinal i and cross every doctrinal t and still have a heart that is cold and indifferent to others. How often did Jesus rebuke his own disciples for their cold hearts? Believe me, when I say I’ve felt the sting of the Spirit’s rebuke many times, and I have no doubt I will experience it again. But I’m growing. I’m becoming more the man Christ is calling me to be. How about you?
In Christ,
Dan
